Review:

Birding Is My Favorite Video Game” by Rosemary Mosco is a delightfully fun look at bird behavior, characteristics, and common myths. Mosco also brings in chapters that include moths, butterflies, reptiles, amphibians, and even dinosaurs. The 8-bit style bird art of warblers is definitely unique compared to the other comics inside the pages. The paneled comics are truly funny and have a lot of sarcasm.

There are great facts about climate change and animals, but any reader (especially if giving this to an impressionable child) needs to understand how much of the book is filled with jokes. An example of this is a page of bird anatomy which gives different body parts silly names much like with internet cat memes.

I’d recommend this for the backyard birder or a world-traveling birder who already owns all the “serious” books.
