Trigger Warnings: sexual assault, domestic violence, CSA, transphobia, lots of bloody gore

The Ninth Circle imprint of Image Comics is one that brings stories that retain an independent, non-Giant Corporation freedom. Maybe a title like The Punisher or a Joker story could get away with what this team pull off. Ninth Circle was founded by Garth Ennis, Marguerite Bennett, Joe Pruett, Ram V, and Adam Glass with leadership of Michael Bogner and David Stone.

Bennett partnered with Eleonora Carlini to deliver this world of mommy blogging and social media influencers. The crimes are layered and the tables are turned. Step-mom Astrid is a white woman who wants to show the community she would do absolutely anything to present herself as a modern “trad wife” with biracial step-children and an abusive husband. On the outside, she strains to mimic perfection.

This story leaves one asking, “Where’s the line between confidence and psychopathy?” Astrid has crossed it multiple time and her CEO husband is less-than-thrilled to clean up her messes. He cares about the payoff, the results that come with success.

Men are 75% of Astrid’s targets to bring down, but a mean girl also serves no place in the ideal world of Astrid’s making. One should never make the mistake of bullying her non-binary child.

Summary:

The violence like this may turn off certain readers who do appreciate revenge stories. This one is intentionally as grindhouse as possible. Carlini does a world class job in showing the emotions that Astrid is forcing through with her public side and her real emotions on the inside. See the Preview pages for yourself.

Preview pages from the upcoming one-shot revealed

PORTLAND, Ore. 05/05/2025 — Bestselling writer Marguerite Bennett (Witchblade, writer/creator of Animosity) and artist Eleonora Carlini (Captain Marvel, Vicarious) comes an unsettling black comedy in, Mommy Blog. This thrilling satire will hit shelves in May from Image Comics.

Mommy Blog reveals the horror that can lurk even within the hearts of a suburban mom! Think: Real Housewives meets Fatal Attraction in this disturbing domestic thriller perfect for fans of Jamie S. Rich and Joëlle Jones’ Lady Killer.

“If readers want something funny, cruel, scathing, and just a damn good time, MOMMY BLOG is for them,” said Bennett.

Carlini added: “Drawing from Marguerite’s script was stimulating and fun. I loved Astrid from the very first pages—there’s something about her that I feel speaks to every woman. I could relate to her, both in the pain she keeps silent and the anger she expresses. I believe readers will love her too.”

In this scathing, brutal, outrageous black comedy, Astrid is an aspiring social media “super mommy” keeping tabs on her glamorous gated community after the disappearances of several neighborhood children. Certain a predator is afoot, she turns all of her cunning, creativity, sugar, and spice to catching the killer—and if her rivals for “Mommy of the Year” get caught in the path of the chainsaw, well, you have to break a few eggs to make a cruelty-free omelette, don’t you?

Mommy Blog one-shot (Lunar Code 0325IM270) will be available at comic book shops on Wednesday, May 28.

Mommy Blog will also be available across many digital platforms, including Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, and Google Play.
