AMBER LOVE 17-JULY-2013 By now, if you’re a fan of the VODKA O’CLOCK podcast, you’ve probably heard me refer to Steampunk as a genre of comics, fiction, fashion and conventions. If you didn’t quite understand the culture, this episode should be informative since my guest is the one and only JEFF MACH who produces the Steampunk World’s Fair, Wicked Faire, and other events for geeky- and kinky-minded folk. This year is the inaugural Geek Creation Show in New Jersey. Why Jersey? Jeff answers that and I described my perfect Jersey day. The Geek Creation Show has had some major changes: NOVEMBER 15-17, 2013 at the RADISSON in PISCATAWAY, NJ.

“I’ve always been a Jersey Girl.” ~Jeff Mach

The Geek Creation Show isn’t only for makers/crafters. Jeff claims he can’t put Legos together without causing an injury. It’s about giving geeks the opportunities to live cooler, happier, healthier lives. There will be tracks for gaming, tech, adventure, music, food/drink, culture, and comics. Also, 100% of the profits go to the Tesla Museum which will be founded thanks to the successful indiegogo campaign which raised over $1.3 million.

“In 2013, why are people asking if women can do things men can do?” ~JM

tesla-master-of-lightningConsidering Nikola Tesla and the fact that we are based here in New Jersey, the home of Thomas Edison, I posed the question to Jeff why he’s honoring Tesla not Edison. DUN DUN DUN! All steampunks and engineering/science nerds know the history of the competition between these two. How many Thomas Edisons does it take to change a lightbulb? The answer is in the show around the 35:00 mark.

The social events for Geek Creation Show are still awaiting announcement but there will be something along the lines of a Geek Carnival and possible astounding fire performances (if you’ve seen them at the other shows you know this is incredible work).

They are still looking for sponsors, people to hold workshops, and other media to help spread the word.
